Almond Milk- easy peasy to make and 100% yummier than store bought. It's creamy and fresh and not sitting in a long-life carton (Tetra Pak) that is difficult to recycle due to its multi-layer construction.


  • Soak 1 cup of natural almonds for 12hrs in a bowl covered with water.

  • Rinse and drain water a few times. Almonds contain phytic acid in their skins and this is transferred to the water you soak them in. Phytic acid inhibits iron and calcium absorption (and more) so not recommended to use or drink the water you soaked almonds in.

  • Place in a blender with 4-5 cups of tap water and a sweetener of your choice (I used 2 dates).

  • Blend for approximately 1 minute.

  • Use a nut milk bag or muslin cloth to squeeze contents into a large bowl.

  • Pour into a glass bottle and store in fridge for 5 days.

  • Can use the almond meal for cooking, toasting or putting in a smoothie.

  • Can do the same with cashews, hazelnuts and macadamia nuts. Cashews only need to be soaked for 6hrs, macadamia nuts 8hrs and hazelnuts also 12hrs.
